Do you like theater?! Could you animate any other scenes from shows?

oh dear anon,

I started my animating with theater. well, at least In the Heights, specifically.

Then I lost my flash software, and I stopped animating altogether. ;_; I only recently discovered gif-making, but since I’m drawing them frame-by-frame, it’s only good for small-ish scene snippets at a time, and nothing “full-length”. so idk what to do.

still, I’m attempting a bit of WSS animation as we speak. we’ll see!

scenes I want to but will never be able to animate if I tried:

Yolanda going through Usnavi’s legs in The Club, from In the Heights.

the short stubby legs to oversized head ratio of my cartoons is too limiting.

+ Nina Lafarga’s hair.

woe is me.

the sibling and i are mad fans of this one broadway show. we were obsessed with the music, we worked on youtubes animated by the sibling and t-shirts, which got some attention because of which we got to meet some of the folks from the show and the fans. an unbelievable 2009.
i used to listen to the songs as i ran in the gym. most tunes are super joyful and dance-able. then there’s paciencia y fe, which was a great song so i didn’t skip it, but by the end i’d be bawling as i ran. like tears, literally. people thought i was dying.
the show is closing in jan. a huge deal since it was not only the first broadway show we’ve ever seen, but because for a brief time in our lives, it was our lives. i’m doing my best to try to watch it one more time. be there in nyc around new year’s and maybe catch some of the original cast members’ epic return. but until then, i’ve gone back to the youtubes for a refresher of how addicted we could get to something:

As the aforementioned sibling, I concur.
This show, I swear. <3
